Why Not Gallery
Garbage Kids exhibition in the Why Not Gallery space in Tbilisi 2024.
The exhibition focused on two of our pieces - the spiky table and chair. The furniture inhabited scenographic scene, surrounded by silhouettes, figurines and elements from a magical realm. The exhibition was a chance for us to create a true setting for our piecces, placing them inside a story, enveloped by oddity and mystery. In the end the fantasies (our pieces) are meant to be protagonists in space (as characters living in coexistence with its “owners”), neither arbitrary or too amusing, they stand for something human (fragile, errors in its material and form, highlighted imperfections), hopefully creating something as suggestively infinite as the materials they are made out of.
The spiky table and chair, like most other works of Garbage Kids, shows no trace of time in which it might have been created, very easily being part of a fictional collection of “unknown artists”. It plays with the extension of preexisting history set outside of time.
