Dragon blanket
The dragon blanket was the first design that we realised from our fabric works. The dark grey fabric is Soviet broadcloth (common textile used for the Soviet officers) that used to belong to Nika's grandfather, who was a high officer in the KGB. Turns out he spoke perfect French and was supposed to go there to become a Soviet spy. But plans changed and he ended up training spies.
Supposedly... This of course we cannot confirm, but it is still a nice story to have about the material we are using.
With some frustration we could not find a decent felted fabric to make the appliqué for our broadcloth, leaving us with the only option of making it ourselves. The soft appliqué on the top of the blanket is hand felted and made out of Estonian sheeps' wool, using nuno felting to keep the textile as light and thin as possible.
