Red sophora crocodiles

The crocodiles were a playful idea when another furniture piece was giving us trouble.
While avoiding work we came up with the simple and pure idea of the crocodile. Using the odd shaped smaller scrap pieces of our wood material a creature was born.
We were delighted how the first lizard turned out and could hardly leave it to live alone, so a second red crocodile was born.

All in all we found making crocodiles quite a pleasant and joyful way of avoiding other, more tedious work, hence the creation of the walnut crocodiles. With them we tried out different techniques with the new tools we recently acquired, making the process even more satisfying.

With each crocodile it gets a different, individual character, animating each object. One of our main drivers in the creative process is creating objects which we hope will find a place in someone's home and heart, something to connect and live with.

Technical information:

The crocodiles are made of Japanese pagoda tree (Styphnolobium japonicum), cut down for real estate development. The paint is leftover from the Kibe staircase restoration, where Garbage Kids were head carpenters.
