Shadow totem

The shadow totem is part of the "Shadow Objects" collection and exhibition, that tooks place summer 2025 in the Estonian Museum of Applied Arts and Design. A singular light sourcecasting mythopoetic shadows across the space. In this collection, the shadows are a medium we chose to play with, twisting predictable paths and nature and giving the objects an extra dimension and character. 

Technical information:

The totem is made out oak that was once taken (mostly likely secretly) from a wine factory in Georgia and forgotten about for 40 years.. The column has individually places Golden Rain tree seeds inserted into the wood. The hands are carved out of linden wood, with brass details for holding the candles. The piece is disassemblable into 5 smaller sections. All details are finished with boiled linseed oil and oil paint.
